I am very excited to announce to you the next chapter in underground magic. If you are a PhatusMagic regular, you already know that we are more about expanding the art rather than expanding our pocket books and as it turns out, we have a long lost sister with a similar philosophy. ExoMagic has an excellent community of innovative magicians, an ever expanding store of great products, and a constantly updated blog to help keep you up-to-date on the art. To spice things up even more, I will be doing some writing for the ExoMagic blog with new articles and original content that you won’t find here at Phatus. I have spoken personally with the owner and founder of ExoMagic, Alex Hess, and he is as good a guy as they come. Not only has Alex upheld the philosophy of “Learn, Teach, and Evolve” he has also started a Haiti relief project at his site and has even shipped himself to Haiti to help assist in that relief. If you would like to help expand upon the art, chat with other great magicians, or even purchase a quality magic product, I highly recommend giving ExoMagic your consideration. And who knows, with a little Phatus support, we may just pave in a new and innovative road for an art who has perhaps lost its way. So check them out, greet them as you would your brothers, and most of all have fun.

Just when you think you’ve seen just about everything there is to see on the internets about a particular subject, along comes a link that blows your mind which is exactly what Instructable user “lybrary” has done in the comments section of our gaff card instructable. His gaff tutorial takes the art of gaff creation to the next level as well as explains what NOT to do. A wonderful and informative piece that the phatus magic gaffer will not want to miss. Rip a penny in half (potential DIY magnetic coin and or DIY penny shell)

Stumbled on this video today on how to make a hollow penny that you can rip in half. A nice little gimmick for an awesome trick at minimal cost. I got to thinking though, once you hollow the penny, one might consider filling it with metal shavings and glue or something of that sort to make it magnetic . Perhaps one could even fashion a disposable penny shell. Lots of magical potential here. Check it out and decide for yourself.

Poker information site, homepokertourney.com not only has a ton of useful poker information, but they also have a fantastic collection of Ace of Spade and Joker images from just about every card manufacture that you could possibly imagine. Once at the site, click on the individual cards to see a larger image. Who knows what other goodies lie somewhere in their site so if anyone stumbles on something useful, please let us know.

35+ Years of Bicycle Card Designs

Here’s one for the card enthusiasts out there. I’m not quite sure of its purpose, but it appears that someone has created what I could only describe as an online museum of Bicycle playing card designs from 1885 to the 1920s. Each link appears to point to a different back design with many subsequent links pointing to the Ace of Spades and Joker designs for that particular deck. The image resolutions are a little sub par but I wouldn’t necessarily count them out for gaff use. Either way, a worth while stumble for any card buff.
