This is a real simple DIY from Instructables user Blobmaster. The end result is a self made gimmick deck of cards that seem to magically vanish in the box. One could certainly embellish on this idea to craft a very high quality gimmick. Check out the tutorial video below.
No doubt most of you have seen the gaffed sharpie from E with the “SixClubs” reveal on it. If not check it out here. Well I just came across this interesting post from carlitoscontraptions where he has found a way to remove the labels off of things like lighters and such using a sugar cube without scratching it. Check out his post here.
I imagine this would work just as well on a Sharpie. So that puts us halfway there. Now the fun part. Finding a way to print on the sharpie.
Here are some ideas….
A while back I stumbled on this video from contraflip @ metacafe where he shows you how to transfer laser prints to your target by using lacquer thinner. Check out the video below. I have never tried this, but this may be a suitable solution to the matter.
The other Idea is using some kind of printable tattoo paper that you can cut and transfer to the sharpie. I have yet to find a decent deal on this stuff so if anyone knows of a good online shop that sells blank tattoo paper, please do share and post it to the comments of this entry. This would be great to try either way because should it not work well for the sharpie, you could still use the paper to fashion your own custom stained ink style tattoos for reveals and such.
Anyways, just a few thoughts. Feel free to post your ideas and comments.
Cards4magic.co.uk Is selling a product called Stick-A-Pip® in which you can purchase a sheet of pips which contains 30 large pips, 20 small pips, 4 A’s for aces and 2 of other symbols for just £7.50 | The pips “are made of very thin and removable PVC film which is durable, water-resistant and has a matte finish that is a perfect match for your poker sized Bicycle 808® Cards”. Its very cool to see new methods of creating gaffs and this one is definitely original. Check it out here or at the manufacture’s website here.
Sandrostiger @ Metacafe has a very cool magic trick for a great card reveal. The best part of his tutorial is that he shows you how to make a magnetic card thus opening up a huge door of possibilities for card tricks. In his tutorial he uses two cards to make the gimmick however I imagine one could even just peel a card to construct an even more convincing and inspectable gimmick. Visit the Gaff Card Resources Page for a link to peeling cards. Check out the video below.
This time its with a ping pong ball. A while back we posted something on creating a pk ring triggered glowing orb from ice. Read the post here if you are unfamiliar. dcmania21 @ instructables has made a how-to on something similar, but he uses a ping pong ball instead. This would eliminate the melting factor thus being slightly more practical and permanent. Link to instructable…

Dug out this old post at WikiHow on how to make invisible thread from the threads in a black T-shirt to use on your levitation magic tricks. I have not had time to try this so if anyone is successful, please post your results in the the comments section of this post. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Invisible-Thread
